Important Information:
Ready to hike this weekend? Grubmasters be sure to bring enough food
- hikers will be hungry. Don't forget your rain gear. Looks like we could
have some showers this weekend. Might be a good time to get one more coat
of waterproofing on your boots. I'm attaching the packing list for reference
when you get your pack ready to go. I will have all the crew/patrol gear.
Speaking of, if you have a canister stove (pocket rocket) or water pump,
we could always use spares.
FYI - we have two adults bravely holding down the base camp at Talimena
State park next to the water spigot, flush toilet and the electrical outlet.
In the event the creeks are dry, there is a rendezvous location where
they can drop a water cache for us.
Don't worry about class A shorts and socks for the trip out Saturday.
Wear you uniform shirt over your hiking clothes. Pack a bag with your
uniform shorts, socks, a clean t-shirt, towel and soap. There are showers
at the Park and we will all need one on return from the trail. Don't put
this bag in your pack, we will leave it with the cars.
Adult Trekkers, we need to reduce the number of cars we are taking.
Jim Cline has offered up his Suburban (8 seats) and I will have my truck
(5 seats). Jerry, how many seats you got? I think we can do this with
three vehicles. Jerry and Brice are paying for their campsite and we will
have to pay $5 per day to park the other vehicles at the trailhead.
See you WAAAAYY early Saturday morning at the church (5:30).
